Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the insertion of fine, single-use disposable needles into the skin and muscle tissue.  The technique and depth depend on your condition of the day.  It is not as painful as the hypodermic needle you may have experienced in the past.  Ideally, you will feel a deeper sensation within your tissues and even a traveling sensation in your body conduits.  Most people fall asleep during acupuncture and we fondly call this the “acu-nap.”

Functional Medicine with a Lab-based Approach

Using sophisticated and precise lab testing, we use functional labs to identify your hidden sources of ills and pain. Thorough assessment and lab testing finds the root causes of disease including hormonal imbalances, digestive issues, gut microbiome pathogens, infections, toxicity, and nutrient deficiencies.  By combining labs with a deep dive into your health history, we create personalized treatment plans that get results. People often ask us for help with fatigue, anxiety and stress, GI issues, sleep disorders, energy crashes, hormonal imbalances, and to improve physical and emotional wellbeing.

Movement Rehab, Meditation & Breathing Exercises

We add corrective exercises to your treatment plan to help you strengthen your body more precisely, and move better with reduced pain. In our busy world where we are often required to be “on,” meditation and restorative breathing are evermore important to our health. Learning how to breathe optimally reduces stress, increases oxygen to the brain, improves focus, stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, enhances body movement, protects our cardiovascular system, and creates calm.

“Ever since I began seeing Sarrah 2+ years ago for orthopedic electro-acupuncture and dry needling, I've felt a huge improvement in muscular and skeletal imbalances that I've been dealing with for many years. I have tried acupuncture at so many other places, but this (electro-acupuncture) is the only thing that has worked for my muscles.

As an athlete, taking care of my body outside of training itself is almost like a second job, and I find that functional medicine has been the most sustainable way to go. Not only has the sports rehab sessions with Sarrah allowed me to perform at higher levels, but in-depth lab analyses have been crucial for understanding more about my body and what supplements I need to utilize for better performance and long-term health.

Sarrah cares about her patients, is extremely personable, and actively continues to keep up with ever-evolving field. I trust her with all things health, and I recommend her to all my close friends if they want to try acupuncture!”— Kat, SF Holistic Medicine Patient
